Danish named new Afghanistan board chairman

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced the appointment of Nasimullah Danish as its new chairman and Shafiqullah Stanekzai as its new chief executive. The new leadership was announced by board president Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Sunday and comes just two months before Afghanistan's first match at the 2015 ICC World Cup against Bangladesh on February 18 in Canberra.

Danish replaces Shahzada Masoud, who served as chairman since October 2012, while Stanekzai arrives in place of Noor Mohammad Murad. The ACB stated in a press release that the changes were made "to bring in the fresh wave of perspective and ideas towards the growth of Afghanistan cricket teams."

Danish stated that he intends to unveil a 10-year strategic plan while the ACB also set out a goal of improving governance to meet best practices established by other cricket boards.

"We are determined to bring further reforms in the structure of ACB and we will do our best to be successful worldwide," Stanekzai said.
