Bushrangers finalise list

Fitzroy Doncaster batsman David Plumpton and Northcote's young opener Michael Allen, were today awarded Bushrangers senior and rookie contracts respectively. The elevation of Plumpton and Allen finalise the Bushrangers playing lists leading into the 2002/03 season.

Bushrangers coach David Hookes said both players deserved their place on the list. "The selectors just felt that both David and Michael have been very impressive throughout the pre-season and also showed encouraging form at our recent trip to Mildura for three trial matches".

Plumpton, 25, enjoyed an outstanding season last year and was a major factor in Fitzroy Doncaster's premiership success, scoring 957 runs. An aggressive young opening bat, Allen scored three centuries in 2001/02 for Northcote. He has also previously captained the Victorian U/19 side and is a product of the Victorian Cricket Pathway program.
