November 1932 Run out for a duck on his first-class debut for New South Wales
June 8 1934 Makes his Test debut against England in Nottingham
June 22 1934 Scores his first Test hundred in only his second match, striking 105 at Lord's
1935-36 Has a terrific tour of South Africa, scoring 417 runs at nearly 60 from five Tests
1936-37 Moves back to his home state of Queensland and captains them from 1937-38
1938 Enjoys a prolific tour of England and makes his highest Test score, an unbeaten 206, at Lord's
1939 Named Wisden Cricketer of the Year
1945-46 Captains Australia for the only time, in their first post-war Test, and they thrash New Zealand by an innings and 103 runs in Wellington
1948 Plays two Tests on the Invincibles tour. Scores eight centuries on the tour but has to make way for younger players like Neil Harvey
