Tamim reprimanded for breaching code of conduct

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has been reprimanded after being found guilty of breaching the ICC's code of conduct during the first day of the Mirpur Test against West Indies. Tamim was charged with a Level 1 offence under article 2.1.4 of the code which relates to "using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international match".

The charge related to an incident in the 85th over of the West Indies first innings when Tamim Iqbal was heard using offensive language against the batsman Marlon Samuels. Umpire Nigel Llong immediately intervened and had a long exchange with Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim. The match officials then brought the charge to match referee, Andy Pycroft's notice. Tamim pleaded guilty to the charge and so there was no requirement for a full hearing.

"Tamim's behaviour against Marlon Samuels was completely unacceptable and that too after I had reminded him of his responsibility in the lead-up to the second Test," Pycroft explained.
