English cricket

The itinerant cricketer

When he's not turning in sharp all-round performances for his county or England, Luke Wright is a T20 specialist for hire, donning the colours of various teams in the Indian Premier League, the Big Bash League and the Bangladesh Premier League. It's the ODI spot that he covets, though. In an interview with The Telegraph, Wright talks about the importance of T20 performances to make a case for his selection.

"I have huge ambitions to get back in the one-day side. It's quite tough to get in the top order - with KP, Cook, Bell and Trott to come back in. But I'd like to come into the middle order if there's no role for me at the top, and obviously my bowling might help. I suppose for me it's just trying to perform well in these Twenty20s here in New Zealand and whenever I get chance try to push my case."
