ACC Trophy: 'Khel' at Dhulikhel
From Al-Amin
When the organisers of the Second Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Trophy declared the day as time out for cricket, four star cricketers of the yesteryears form different corners of the world grouped together perhaps to relish the sweet memories of the past.
The four living legends - West Indies opener Gordon Greenidge, former Indian captain Gundappa Viswanath, former Pakistan captain Mushtaq Mohammed and former Indian Test star Abid Ali - took the merry ride at Dhulikhel, one of the major tourist attractions of Nepal.
Although the purpose of the mysterious tour remained undisclosed, the quartet however returned to base, the Soaltee Hotel, in time to comply with their respective jobs.
Gordon, coach of the Bangladesh team, took only five minutes to get ready before leaving with his boys for the afternoon practice session.
Viswanath, who came to Kathmandu in the capacity of match referee, however stayed back.
Mushtaq, currently coach of the UAE, rushed to join the team's practice. So did Abid Ali, who is the coach of the Maldives.
