Respected Members of the Press,
I, the undersigned Avinash Vaidya, wish to inform you that I have today in my letter to the KSCA (enclosed) announced my retirement from First Class Cricket due to the recurring back injury which was sustained during a Duleep Trophy Match at Alwar, Rajasthan in 1995.
At this juncture, as I look back at my career I wish to thank with sincere gratitude my family, my wife Meena, my employers Vijaya Bank, Akay Industries, my Club Malleshwaram Gymkhana, Lions School, Hubli, Mr. V. Jagannath, Mr. Dayanand Shetty, and host of my friends who have stood by me all the while.
I also wish to thank my Senior Crickets, especially Mr. Syed Kirmani who was always there to help. I am also proud to have been a part of the winning Ranji & Irani Trophy sides and my special thanks to Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, and Rahul Dravid for there kind support and helping hand all times. I wish to thank my fellow State Cricketers with whom I have spent moments which I shall cherish all my life.
Last but not the least my sincere thanks to the Media both Print & Electronic for the support they have extended and helped me in building my career for which I shall be ever grateful.
I shall however be connected with Cricket by turning up for my Team Vijaya Bank and through coaching assignments with Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy & the Bishop Cottons Boys School, Bangalore.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
(AVINASH VAIDYA)
