ECB Media Release
September 15, 2001
The England and Wales Cricket Board today announced that James Ormond has been forced to withdraw from the forthcoming tour to Zimbabwe through injury. He has been suffering from patellar tendonitis to his right knee during the latter part of this season and he has been advised to have a period of rest and rehabilitation prior to the Test Match tour to India in November.
David Graveney, Chairman of Selectors, said, "This will be a big disappointment for James but we very much hope that he will be able to prove his fitness for the Test Match tour to India, and so be able to build on his positive England debut at the AMP Oval last month. We will make an announcement about his replacement on Monday."
