England's National Academy posts huge total

Warwickshire batsman Ian Bell became the ECB National Academy XI's third centurion as his side reached a total of 601-8 declared on day two of their four-day game against the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy in Adelaide.

Bell, whose 104 followed tons from Robert Key and Andy Strauss on the first day's play, was supported by half centuries from Graeme Swann (77) and Derek Kenway (60).

Swann also returned the Academy XI's best bowling figures when England fielded, finishing with 1-22 off eight overs as the CBCA reached 217-4 in reply at the close. Stephen Harmison, Steve Kirby and Chris Schofield shared the other three wickets to fall.

The ECB National Academy is funded by Sport England and sponsored by Vodafone.
