Australia fast bowler Ben Laughlin has re-signed with Northern Knights for the upcoming Georgie Pie Super Smash, New Zealand's domestic Twenty20 competition.

Laughlin was a key member of the Northern Knights side that won the HRV Cup last season- he spearheaded the bowling attack with 10 wickets from four matches at an average of 10.10 and an economy rate of 6.31.

"I'm stoked to be part of the Knights again this season and I'm really looking forward to being able to compete for the entire competition," Laughlin said. "Last time round, the games were quite spread out so it works out well for me that the competition now has 10 games in a month.

"I enjoy the competitive nature of the other teams and I'll give as good as I get, so bring on the challenge. We are going for back to back this season and I'm really ready for it."

Laughlin, who was part of the Hobart Hurricanes side which beat Knights in the recently-concluded Champions League T20, will join fellow Australian Travis Birt as the second foreign player in the squad.

Knights will begin their campaign against Wellington in Hamilton on Saturday and the tournament will be played between November 1 and December 7
