Rumman Raees replaces injured Wahab Riaz

Left-arm seamer Rumman Raees has replaced injured fast bowler Wahab Riaz in Pakistan's Champions Trophy squad. The change was confirmed by the ICC's Event Technical Committee.

Wahab's ankle injury had put a stop to the most expensive spell in Champions Trophy cricket on Sunday, and it was confirmed the following day that it would keep him away from cricket for a further two weeks. He is being sent back to Lahore.

The selection committee met in PCB's headquarters on Tuesday to size up two possible replacements in Raees and recent Test debutant Mohammad Abbas. Raees was preferred for his ability to "bowl in the death overs" and for having a relatively "better strike rate" in limited-overs cricket.

Raees, hailing from Karachi, was was the third-leading wicket-taker in the recently-concluded second edition of the Pakistan Super League, where he turned out for Islamabad United. He came into prominence last year after being named in Pakistan's squad for the World T20. However, a Grade-1 hamstring strain delayed his debut by a few months. The debut was one of two T20Is he has played, and came in September 2016 against West Indies in Abu Dhabi.

Ruman Raees is excellent choice. Against srilanka, i would still prefer to play with Junaid, as he performed well against SA and secondly he performs well against srilanka. I dont hv much hope with Hafeez and Azhar ali, but with Hafeez bowling, i would still keep him in team but as an opener. My team, Hafeez Fakhar Babar Malik Sarfraz Fahim Imad Shadab Amir Junaid Hasan... Fahim bcz its batting wicket and we need good striker, instead of Azhar ali, fahim ashraf in the team. Lot of bowling choice, bcz only bowling can win matches for pak.

Pak should play with one more all rounder specaily Fahim Ashraf to get good results in future so Azhar Ali needs to replace by Fahim and Hafeez needs try opening again as he was good before.

Shoaib Malik should open and play aggressively. Now that is out of the box. Hafeez should go to commentary.

I'd prefer yo see sohail khan in the squard ahead of Ruman Raees but this debate is now irrelevant as none of them getting chance in the remaining two matches. If someone is looking beyond two matches, he must be living is other world

To all the Pakistanis from Karachi always moaning about players from Punjab making up the team, here's one to further your cause. Let's see how he does! Petty issues, it should not matter where you come from!

Rumman is good, but Sohail Khan deserved a chance. He should not have been dropped in the first place.

I do not understand why Pakistan keep on playing Hafeez. He is the main problem in the bating line up. His strike rate is very low.

lol loses one game due the one of the least successful coaches pak has ever seen and people call for sarfraz to be sacked. I guess they can't bear to see him try to polish a poor team
