News : 'I am 100% fit' - Darren Bravo
Players/Officials: Darren Bravo | Andre Russell
Series/Tournaments: ICC World Twenty20
Teams: West Indies

Batsman Darren Bravo and allrounder Andre Russell have returned to the West Indies squad for the World Twenty20 to be played in Sri Lanka. Bravo had to return to the West Indies from the tour of England after suffering a groin injury and missed the home series against New Zealand as a result. Russell had missed the T20 leg of the series against New Zealand in Florida due to an injury he had picked up in England, but played the ODI series in the Caribbean thereafter.

The remainder of the squad, led by Darren Sammy with Dwayne Bravo as his deputy, is the same as the one picked against New Zealand in Florida. West Indies won that series 2-0. In addition to Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard, two power-players in the batting line-up, the squad also features opener Lendl Simmons and top-order batsman Johnson Charles, who's played six T20s for West Indies, averaging 29.66.

Fidel Edwards, Ravi Rampaul and Russell comprise the pace attack with Dwayne Bravo, Pollard, Sammy and Dwayne Smith also available to bowl medium-pace. Sunil Narine, who played a crucial role in Kolkata Knight Riders winning the fifth season of the IPL and picked up seven wickets in the two T20 wins against New Zealand, has legspinner Samuel Badree for company in the spin department. Badree made his international debut in the New Zealand series.

West Indies play their first warm-up, against hosts Sri Lanka, on September 13. Their first game of the tournament is against Australia on September 22.

West Indies squad: Darren Sammy (capt), Dwayne Bravo (vice-capt), Samuel Badree, Darren Bravo, Johnson Charles, Fidel Edwards, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith.

That a very good squad.but my only problem is DANISH RAMDEEN,'I belive he may be a liability in this T/20 COMPETITION' .hay i'm not saying he is a liability. WEST INDIES should of realy let LENDEL SIMMONDS KEEP WICKET AND PROBERLY GO WITH SANTUKY OR ANOTHER SPINNER.

Posted by Left_Arm_Lollipop on (August 24, 2012, 10:49 GMT)

For me, I'd have made done 3 things defferently: Benn <-> Badree; Santokie <-> Charles; Best <-> Edwards. Just going by Best's performances for the last 2 T20 seasons. He has done well knowing he only has a 4 over job. How the Selectors hasn't picked up on this is not surprising. I'd go with Ramdin based on he being the most experience and has been just about the tidiest more often than not + the one most used to Narine, which is important! His batting SHOULD NOT be important. In saying all of that though...I don't know why Charles hasn't been keeping for the WI at all. Roach, Fidel best rested for tests. Oh how we miss Jerome and Ronnie. WICB...ahh boy!

Posted by popahwheely on (August 24, 2012, 9:08 GMT)

Roach was omitted because of his no-ball problems you dont want your fast bowlers overstepping in a t20 game. Best? I rather Edwards than Best. Bring back Bishoo!!!! Anyway looking out for some entertainment but windies are known floppers so dont get your hopes up.....

Posted by abdulahadjawaid on (August 24, 2012, 6:01 GMT)

Just another Umar Akmal with more hype and less action. I am not really concerned with his inclusion when Gayle, Pollard, Russell, Samuels, Rampaul and Sunil Narine are in. This will be one of the strongest West Indian team in recent times. Watch out for them.

Posted by godfreyse on (August 23, 2012, 23:46 GMT)

There must be some good reason/s for the omission of Best/Roach. Absolutely no need for Badree. He was a disappointment against NZ in Florida. Benn or even Deonarine will do. And no need for Ramdin if Simmions is there. I can't understand taking DM Bravo with no match practice & leaving out Deonarine, an all-rounder in his own right. No Guyanese? A little strange.

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 18:47 GMT)

@Ryan Baldeo I don't know where you're going with chanders in a t20 squad, much less this one. @ Nigel Bradshaw our all rounders are good enough batsmen and in terms of spinner there are two specialist and don't forget that Samuels is good too.

Posted by anton111 on (August 23, 2012, 17:19 GMT)

Ahh, the usual suspects. I would like to see Simmons behind the stumps instead of Ramdin.

Posted by obatsalem1979 on (August 23, 2012, 16:59 GMT)

@number-09....sorry to inform you, that i never mentioned anderson or broad,so why bring them up? russell is not 10mph faster than bravo, sammy or rampaul, based on your breakdown,so like i said russell is not much faster. i am sure ramdin could stand up to the stumps for russell. so dont tell me understand the game, when you did not impart any knowledge to show me wrong. i have seen batsmen walk down the pitch to hit russell, sammy, bravo and rampaul inside out over cover....against fidel edwards and kemar roach,i have not seen such strokes. fast-medium,give me a break, anyone with medium next to their name is not fast. understand that!

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 16:18 GMT)

Only six batsmen? What happens if they become injured in warm-ups or otherwise? And in Sri Lanka, how do we expect to play so many quicks on the slow wickets there??? Lawk ah mussy!!! Someone needs to advise the Windies selectors that we will be better off with more spinners on this tour...

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 16:18 GMT)

overrated team, will struggle against the likes of ind,sl and pak,may beat aus/sa in a must win game and reach the semi finals to join these 3 subcontinent teams

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 16:03 GMT)

Predictable squad. More or less picked itself. For me, Bessy would've been in for Castro who sprays the ball all over the place and cannot be counted on to deliver a few lusty hits with the bat every now and then. Plus Bessy's infectious personality energizes his team mates. Benn too would've made my squad instead of Badree. He complements Narine better and brings more to the table than his T&T counterpart Badree, in my view. The selectors did the right thing by not including Roachy. Let him get a little rest and work on smoothing out his run up to the wicket. Not a big fan of Ramdin becaue he's let us down more often than not with the bat. But I'm curious to find out why he's named second in command in Tests but not in the other forms of the game. The team has been selected. The players should be getting ready. All they have to is go out on the field and deliver the goods when the time comes. Best wishes, men.

What happened to Roach ? Fidel is on way down. My XI-Gayle,Bravo, Bravo.Sammy, Taylor, Narine,Ramdine,Rampaul, Pollard,Roach, Samuels. Go WI

Posted by sajjodaalman on (August 23, 2012, 15:34 GMT)

where is devendra bishoo? surely h and narine must be our 2 spinners? and johnson charles is not good enough to be playing in a world cup

Posted by nandwani88 on (August 23, 2012, 15:31 GMT)

I am not sure if they are injured or something but Benn, Cooper, Barath, Roach, and of course Jerome Taylor. Instead of Badree, Smith, Charles, Sammy. Can't think of anyone else on this team that needs to be omitted besides those 4.

Posted by MAK123 on (August 23, 2012, 14:40 GMT)

Very bad news for West Indies' world T20 cup prospects. Irresponsible players like Darren Bravo don't even deserve a place in the 50-over format, leave alone T20!!

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 14:35 GMT)

hey where is santokie & maturin? given sub continent condition the selectors should take maturin as a spinning option & and santokie as back up fast bowler. Santokie would have given variety to the squad as a left arm seamer. Take note that both players were impressive during there short stint. i would have swop them for darren bravo who should not be risk immediately especially comeback from injury, and simmons who was bogged down, score slowly and not up to scratch during the recent series, and will likely to have a difficult time in sub-continent conditions. Anyway none of the above would have played in the important matches, but will provide a strong bench team. I believe the starting eleven is automatic, unless injury. Good luck windies, let see you guys improve from the N0. 5 rating and bring home the championship.

My 11: Gayle, Smith/Charles, Bravo, Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Pollard, Ramdin, Sammy, Russell, Edwards, Narine......Badree is my pick but tht means tht Russell has to stay out or Bravo & Samuels cnt play together

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 14:15 GMT)

I am view of that WI is the best t-20 side in the world.but the thing is they loss matches......1)Gayle 2)Smith 3)Samuel 4)Darren Bravo 5)Pollard 6)Dwayne Bravo 7)Sammy 8)Ramdin 9)Russel 10)Rampaul 11)narine

Posted by Sthilanka on (August 23, 2012, 13:34 GMT)

what's the bolt's opinion about this squad?

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 13:22 GMT)

Some of you speak of the best team on paper, but I beg to differ. This is simply the best team they can field because of ongoing politics. The best T20 team on PAPER would look more like this: Gayle, Chanderpaul, Sarwan, Samuels, Pollard, Darren Bravo (wk), Dwayne Bravo, Sammy (c), Russell, Edwards, Narine

Posted by veerakannadiga on (August 23, 2012, 12:24 GMT)

I wish that WI win the WC with CG being the MOS as I doubt India doing well.

Posted by eristhee on (August 23, 2012, 11:06 GMT)

1.Chris Gayle, 2.Dwayne Smith, 3. Darren Bravo, 4.Dwayne Bravo, 5.Kieron Pollard, 6.Marlon Samuels 7.Darren Sammy(good player of spin), 8.Andre Russell, 9.Denesh Ramdin (wk), 10.Sunil Narine, 11.Fidel Edwards, 12.Benn, 13.Samuel Badree, 14.Lendl Simmons, 15.Kemar Roach

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 11:03 GMT)

Predictable team I expect them to do well.Gayle needs to perform consistently for WI to win, if he is not consistent our other batsmen could be under pressure in SL conditions. Comment on U19's they seem to be the best team there but one bad game cost them, that is the key for the Seniors as well

Posted by kobler on (August 23, 2012, 10:45 GMT)

Correction they got both wrong

Posted by kobler on (August 23, 2012, 10:41 GMT)

Why did it take so long to name this team? It is an easy team to pick with the only possible problems Benn vs Badree and Sammy vs Roach. They got one right.

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 10:12 GMT)

On paper... it looks like a great team - Explosive starter, power backed middle & lower order, hand full of all rounders, mystery spinner, intelligent medium pacers, decent pace bowler. Will they play it as a team through out the tournament & last the distance to win this cup... We need to wait & see...

Posted by Jaredwm on (August 23, 2012, 7:52 GMT)

I would have love to seen Kevon Cooper get his place in the side. With Sammy, Russel and Cooper coming down the order it would be an unbeatable team. My 11: Gayle, Smith, Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Pollard, Ramdin, Sammy, Russel, Cooper, Edwards, Narine....

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 6:58 GMT)

quick bowling disorientates batsman so Roach is a must in any ambitious team after all he is the quickest in the WI team today

Posted by simonviller on (August 23, 2012, 4:27 GMT)

Whether you like it or not guys ,Ramadin is the best keeper batsman in WI at the moment . Go back to the beginning people and compare . Thomas was just able to get thirty runs and people are touting his sucess ? Fletcher is lucky to be mentioned after all those zero's don't you think ? You don't have to like the guy ,but be fair to him in your comments .

Posted by Dav1daKing on (August 23, 2012, 4:10 GMT)

@mngc i understand what you are saying and must admit that you are right. Ramdin is the best gloves-man even though not by a mile, but it's no big deal, Ramdin, Baugh nor Thomas. But the thing you said that made me look at things different is that he is used to keeping to Narine and Badree since he's in the squad. so i accept your opinion.

Posted by Dav1daKing on (August 23, 2012, 4:07 GMT)

@Earl Sullivan And also whilst i understand the point that we need to rest Roach, i think we could have rested him in the upcoming series against Bangladesh. seeing how important this WC is we should have our best squad by all means, and talking about rest, Rampaul needs rest as well, he's just coming off injury and he'll also have to play The Champions League for T&T so he should have been the 1 rested not Roach! we should have only taken the T&T players who we actually need! the Likes of D.J. Bravo, Pollard, Narine and to a lesser extent D.M. Bravo. and left( Ramdin) and Badree. another case to leave Badree is that we need Variety and even though he's a leggy we still could have used a left handed spinner, preferable Benn!!! with his height and bounce!

My XI-

Gayle Dwayne Smith

Simmons/Darren Bravo Samuels Dwayne Bravo Pollard

Ramdin

Sammy Russell Edwards/Rampaul Narine

Posted by Dav1daKing on (August 23, 2012, 3:58 GMT)

@Earl Sullivan i would first like to point out to u that this squad is for the t20 world cup and not the ICC Champions League as referred to. and that the only reason i was mentioning the Champions League is because T&T will be playing in it later in the year, so the likes of Ramdin, Badree, D.M. Bravo, etc will get a chance to showcase their skill to the rest of the world in an attempt to sell themselves to the IPL or other international competitions which can only help them to be better players and give them well needed income. So the selectors could have left those T&T players who are not as essential to winning this WC because they'll get the exposure in the Champions League.

WESTINDIES IS JUST AN UNDER DOG AND MINNOW TEAM JUST LIKE PAKISTAN....SO GUYS GUYS U ALREADY OVERRATED THIS MINNOW TEAM....THEY WILL BE BEATEN BY IRELAND AND WILL BE KICKED OUT FROM 1ST ROUND ENJOY.....:)

Posted by 9ST9 on (August 23, 2012, 3:41 GMT)

Ladies and gentlemen, what we are looking at is probably one of the If not THE best T20 team to play in the W T20 this year.

Posted by Bajecric on (August 23, 2012, 3:35 GMT)

My XI for the 1st game would read 1. Chris Gayle 2. Lendell Simmons (wkp) 3. Dwayne Smith 4. Darren Bravo 5. Marlon Samuels 6. Kieron Pollard 7. Dwayne Bravo 8. Andre Russel 9. Darren Sammy (Capt.) 10. Sunil Narine 11. Fidel Edwards....Edwards swings the white ball prodigiously...I would use him for 3 up front and 1 in the death...He would share my new ball with Russel...Narine will always bowl 4 and Edwards as well...That leaves 12 to share between Russel..Samuels (who is very hard to get away in this format)..Sammy..Bravo..Pollard..Smith and even Gayle..With all these Big Hitters...I will go with Darren and Marlon as my 2 real specialists Batsmen to divide up my Hitters...Now that is a Very Strong combination right there...No room for Ramdin..Sorry but he does not rotate the strike well and is not a powerful hitter(Gotta be careful he doesn't write me a note - YEAH NASTA...TALK NAH...lol)..If Edwards is not in-form...I would try Badree...Sorry but Rampaul never seems to be fully fit.

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 2:48 GMT)

Best XI probably 1.Gayle 2.Smith 3.Darren 4.Samuels 5.Dwayne 6.Pollard 7.Ramdin 8.Russel 9.Sammy 10.Narine 11.Edwards ....Sammy has made major improvements on his game over the past year and this format brings out the best of his hard hitting and not forget his economical bowling, with more hard hitting to come from Smith, Samuels, Bravo, Russel and the almighty Christopher Henry Gayle, runs galore is expected from the Windies and the form Narine is in with the likes of Edwards, Rampaul and the rest of the Windies Medium Pace attack, high hopes are on them and they should go all out and win this tournament!!!!

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 2:34 GMT)

On Paper that's the strogest team

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 2:04 GMT)

NO GUYANESS THIS WRONG THAT WHY WE SHOULD MAKE OUR OWN TEAM

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 1:51 GMT)

I am honestly foxed to understand the rationale behind Sammy being the captain of the side! He is not an excellent all rounder neither an excellent cricketing brain!! I think WI is better off having a specialist batsman, bowler or decent all rounder in place of Sammy. I think there is enough talent in the team to lead the side.

Posted by Bruisers on (August 23, 2012, 1:22 GMT)

Might gave been wiser to have opted for a 3rd spinner given the number of fast bowling allrounders in the squad. Sulieman Benn would have been the ideal choice.

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 1:07 GMT)

my eleven Gayle, Smith, Samuels,Bravo snr, Pollard, Russell, Sammy,Ramdin, Narine, Rampaul,Edwards. Bravo jr is out of form so i would keeep him out

Posted by   on (August 23, 2012, 0:25 GMT)

Best 11 for t20, 1. Gayle 2. Simmons 3. Smith 4. Dw.Bravo 5. Pollard 6. Samuels 7. Russell 8. Sammy 9. Ramdin 10. Narine 11. Badree. Darren Bravo returning from injury should just focus on ODI and Test, develop fitness and stamina to occupy the crease masterfully. Would like to see Badree develop solely for t20. Has experience, Bowled in big tourneys before. Open bowling with Sammy and Badree....bring on Russell and Narine...and go from there.

Posted by mngc1 on (August 23, 2012, 0:18 GMT)

Roach's no balls are a massive problem for T20 where free hits must be kept to zero if possible. At the IPL batsmen feasted on these free hits with lost of 6s and 4s. Against NZ he bowled several (at least 3 were caught) and did not improve from match to match. I agree with the selectors for a change.

Posted by number-09 on (August 22, 2012, 23:57 GMT)

@obatsalem1979 Sorry to inform you the Russell regularly hits 85 - 86 MPH (fast medium). Dwayne is on average is faster than Sammy 80 - 83 mph and on occasions can do 85 mph. Sammy is from about 76 to 79. Medium. for comparison Russell is as quick as Anderson and faster than Broad. Understand the game. please.

Posted by bobagorof on (August 22, 2012, 23:27 GMT)

"Fidel Edwards, Ravi Rampaul and Russell comprise the pace attack with Dwayne Bravo, Pollard and Dwayne Smith also available to bowl medium-pace." Despite some of the beliefs of some, I think Darren Sammy should be included in this list somewhere. He is in the squad, after all. Believe it or not, he is a playing captain!

Posted by mngc1 on (August 22, 2012, 23:13 GMT)

@ras10 and barrington henry. Baugh on his own cost WI the chance to draw the series against Australia by dropping 6 or more catches in the series. Catches can win or lose series as England just found out against SA. 2 dropped catches off Amla cost 390 runs which made the difference between the two sides. Neither Baugh or Thomas has kept against Narine so there is no way they should play before Ramdin. I am not happy with his batting but in a T20 taking the catches is infinitely more important as he may hardly get a chance to bat if our top 7 get going.

Posted by   on (August 22, 2012, 22:54 GMT)

@ Ras 10 you got to realize that the ICC champion league is not the place to carry apprentices, you are stressing on giving other players a chance to learn trade..I tend to disagree with you. Another thing you call for Kemar Roach to be in the line up, but you got to realize he is our best bowler in test over the past two years and i think the selectors are giving him a deserved rest and managing the amount of work which he has done and will be doing. i like the 15 man squad it shows a lot of depth in west indies cricket. I do agree that Ramdin should be out and make way for Baugh or Thomas, in the last two matches which Thomas played against NZ he kept well and also contributed with the bat as well.. Best of luck to the WI team next month in the ICC T/20 Champions League.

Posted by   on (August 22, 2012, 22:41 GMT)

I'm thinking tho....won't playing more T20s and ODIs actually HELP Roach in his test career? His main problem in Tests is his no-ball problems.....T20s even made Brett Lee bowl legal deliveries

Posted by   on (August 22, 2012, 22:41 GMT)

only missing name for me is Kemar Roach . he is very good bowler otherwise t20 cup winning squad every body looking at west indies right now to win the cup looking at the firepower they have in their squad. my eleven will be

1.Chris Gayle 2.Dwayne smith 3.Marlon samuels 4.Dwayne Bravo 5.Kieron Pollard 6.Andre Russel 7.Darren Sammy 8.Denesh Ramdin 9.sunil Narine 10.Ravi Rampaul 11.Fidel Edwards

Posted by   on (August 22, 2012, 22:28 GMT)

picked my preferred 11 is :1.Gayle, 2.Smith, 3.D.J. Bravo, 4.Samuels, 5.Pollard, 6.Russell, 7.Sammy, .Ravi Rumpaul 11.Sunil Narine Baugh as wkp

Posted by obatsalem1979 on (August 22, 2012, 22:11 GMT)

no real suprises, abit disappointed to not see a batsman who is able to keep wicket, like a fletcher or perkins, but simmons can keep wicket abit, maybe that`s why he is in the squad.....since it seems obviously that gayle and smith would open the batting.

number 3 and 4 in the batting is between samuels, darren bravo or simmons, even though charles is going,he is not experience enough,he allows way too many dot balls.

5,6,7 in the order picks itself with pollard, dwayne bravo and sammy. rampaul and russell dont bowl much faster than the medium pace of bravo and sammy, but offer something with the bat,so i guess they will make the 11 also, should simmons keep wicket ofcourse.

nothing worse than seeing batsmen walking down the pitch to so-called fast bowlers,so a genuine quick or 2 must play, which is why i fancy a squad with both fidel and roach in it,ahead of old man badree. while santokie has troubled local batsmen, international players will beat his full bowling.

Posted by Dav1daKing on (August 22, 2012, 21:53 GMT)

But while the 15 is already picked my preferred 11 is :1.Gayle, 2.Smith, 3.D.J. Bravo, 4.Samuels, 5.Pollard, 6.Russell, 7.Sammy, 8.Ramdin, 9.Narine, 10.Edwards and 11.Badree.

Posted by Nadeem1976 on (August 22, 2012, 21:51 GMT)

this is really the team which can win this WC. Keep it up WI. I hope WI win this one. They deserve this one.

Posted by Dav1daKing on (August 22, 2012, 21:47 GMT)

My 15 would have been a way better team!!!! and thus more players from different territories would get more exposure as well and the rest of the T&T players play Champions League Later in the year.

Posted by Dav1daKing on (August 22, 2012, 21:45 GMT)

Therefore, my preferred 15 would have been 1.Gayle, 2.Smith, 3.D.J. Bravo, 4.Samuels, 5.Pollard, 6.Russell, 7.Sammy, 8.Baugh, 9.Narine, 10.Roach, 11.Edwards, (12th man D.M. Bravo, 13, Benn, 14.Best, 15.Charles)

Posted by   on (August 22, 2012, 21:41 GMT)

No Kemar Roach in the West Indies 20/20 squad . Cannot see it possible under no sun in this time .

Posted by Dav1daKing on (August 22, 2012, 21:33 GMT)

as of for wicket keeper now, Ramdin can't be trusted to get 20 runs off an over, Ramdin will be captaining Trinidad in the Champions League so he'll get that big t20 exposure, Ramdin keeping is not a milli miles better than Baugh nor Thomas. So i would most def bring Baugh since we all know he's capable of hitting a few big ones and he's a tidy enough keeper. and i keep stressing the need for more exposure for our other players other than the Trinies for the reason being the more exposure we give to other players the more we'll have players playing abroad and learning their trade!

Posted by   on (August 22, 2012, 21:29 GMT)

Good team. Should have played Baugh or Thomas as wicket keeper. Even though they are not consistent run scorers, they score quickly and are much better keepers. Roach and Darren not ready for T20 as yet.

Posted by nazmulhaq54 on (August 22, 2012, 21:27 GMT)

My WI team: 1.Chris Gayle 2.Lendl Simmons 3.Dwayne Smith 4.Marlon Samuels 5.Kieron Pollard 6.Dwayne Bravo 7.Darren Sammy 8.Andre Russell 9.Dinesh Ramdin 10.Ravi Rumpaul 11.Sunil Narine.

Posted by Dav1daKing on (August 22, 2012, 21:25 GMT)

I also would have preferred to see Roach instead of Rampaul and would have love to see an extra seemer (Best or Santokie) instead of Simmons since he and Charles will be fighting for the top order batsman that's gonna be the 12th man and he (Simmons) will be going to the Champions Trophy so he'll also have an opportunity to get some exposure from that so we only needed 1 extra top order Bat really, and W.I. should have only brought the Trinies that are essential to the team winning (Bravo Brothers, Pollar and Narine).

Posted by   on (August 22, 2012, 21:22 GMT)

My eleven would be Gayle, Smith, Samuel, pollard, bravo sr, Russell, Sammy, Ramdin, Narine, Rampaul, Badree. Good balance of bowling and batting and also two spinners on those sri lankan pitches. Theres no way fidel or lendl is making it in my squad. Both are out of form and you can't afford to wait for them to get it in a tournament, on a tour yes but not a tournament.

Posted by Dav1daKing on (August 22, 2012, 21:14 GMT)

West indies should have brought a left handed spinner to compliment Narine, especially seeing that Badree will play the Champions League for Trinidad so we could have use this opportunity to give Benn, Mathurin, or Miller some exposure.

Posted by Metman on (August 22, 2012, 21:04 GMT)

@ Boxer 44.....The WI team IS....Sammy,captn......and so forth and so on....I supposed you will NOT LOL this time....a team IS ,and NOT... a team ARE ! To the point, however, why Badree at this time and not Benn ?.....why Ramdin AGAIN...what is an unfit Rampaul who struggled to bowl 10 overs in 3 different spells doing in a squad, and where is ROACH ? Why carry 4 openers, and no room could be found for Deonarine.....Sammy,Russell and Bravo snr CANNOT play in the same XI.Roach,Benn and Narine would have been my 3 main bowlers, and Simmons my keeper with Gayle,Smith,Bravo jnr,Samuels,Sammy,Pollard and Russell.

In reply to Mark Frayne-Johnson, that was also my XI but with one change, I start with Charles, I did not have Darren Bravo in my T20 squad, he is to important to my test team so I want him to concentrate on 4/5 day cricket over the next 4-5 months. I find Darren is losing his focus.

Drop sammy and play Roach,my choice

devon thomas instead of ramdin and if roach was in would make it a better squad, but still a good squad....good luck WI

I feel Sarwan should have been there as well.

Roach's recurring no ball problem is to risky in this format with the FREEHIT aspect so it's probably the right choice SriLanka isn't exactly fast bowlers paradise either this is the best squad. I agree with Mark's team - depending who is out though I'd put Samuel s at 3 if Smith is out first just to frustrate opposition with right hand left hand combo - also depending on wicket fall I'd try and get Pollard in earlier than Bravo Pollard take a little while to warm up if he gets out early he gets out early but if he gets in he is devastating ! Dwayne has shown to be a consistent finisher in both Ipl and late for W.I i think he is the best batsman for finishing the innings with Russell Sammy.

Why onxearth WICB taking Dinesh Ramdin instead of Devon thomas. Yes he has experience but it does not prove he is better player than thomas.WICB needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

Love this squad from the Windies...very balanced and very good to see 2 spinners going to Sri Lanka. We would definitely need another spin option in the sub-continent. This squad has explosive batsmen from top Gayle, Smith, Pollard, Bravo Snr and to the bottom with Russell and Sammy and a steady middle order with Samuels and Darren Bravo. Wish the Windies best of luck and hopefully they can come away as Champions!!!!!! Lets go Windies!

They need Roach, without him their attack is missing!

It's a strong squad despite the omission of Kemar Roach (his 'no ball' issues being held against him maybe ?) My XI from the 15....Gayle, Smith, Darren Bravo, Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Pollard, Russell, Sammy, Ramdin, Narine, F. Edwards.

No Roach? That is a HUGE mistake. Fidhel cannot replace Roach.

no roach? i really wanted to see him. the opening bowling department will lack striking firepower without him. the batting must fire. otherwise, very pleased with this squad
