New Zealand tour of India 2012 |
New Zealand will play two Test matches and two Twenty20 internationals in India as part of their preparations for the ICC World T20 in September in Sri Lanka. The BCCI has confirmed that the first Test will be played in Hyderabad from August 23, followed by the second in Bangalore from August 31. The fixtures, however, did not include an warm-up games.
The teams will then head to Visakhapatnam for the first T20 international on September 8 and then to Chennai on September 11 for the second. New Zealand last toured India in 2010, losing the Test series 1-0 and the ODIs 5-0.
New Zealand will be without their head coach John Wright, who said he would step down after the West Indies tour ends in early August, shortly before the India series. New Zealand is currently ranked eighth in the ICC Test rankings, while India have slumped to fourth after calamitous tours of England and Australia over the last year.

Wow another 2 match test series and you wonder why ppl just don't care anymore!
Posted by HadleeCrowe on (May 24, 2012, 7:58 GMT)Totally unfair to not have even one warm up game.... No wonder NZ is struggling at the mo.... ANyone remember how many warm up games the poms had in oz??? Was it 4 or 5???? England should be the number one test team they play more than anyone else..... Can cric info do a stats analysis on the 2000s ranking teams and then comparing to games played.... pretty sure it will follow a predictable pattern.... ENG INDIA AUS at top who play most ...
Posted by CHINIC on (May 24, 2012, 3:25 GMT)Teams would rather play in India instead of somewhere else because of the T20 competition which is likely to have the same conditions as the grounds in Sri lanka.

Posted byBecause its in their home conditions and are up against a weaker team New Zealand, India will win all these matches but it doesn't make them any great of a team because their away record is awful. A country of 1.2 billion people winning against a country of some 5 million people is nothing great but if New Zealand were to win any game in that tour, it just shows India are not a great side so India unlike New Zealand have a lot to lose :)
Posted by tanstell87 on (May 23, 2012, 12:40 GMT)New Zealand played 3 tests against India in India in November 2010 after 7 years(played 3 tests in 2003)...& within 2 years they are playing another test series....but i fear these matches would be washed out as their is hardly any cricket played in India from June to last week of September because of rain gods !!!
Posted by Meety on (May 23, 2012, 12:16 GMT)Yet again India hosts a team twice in a row, without touring! Happy for NZ to get some games, but BCCI....... shame!
Posted by sachin_vvsfan on (May 23, 2012, 11:29 GMT)Since when has test matches become the preparation matches for T20s?
Posted by cksakhida on (May 23, 2012, 11:29 GMT)why no 50 over match. why t-20 cricket is given more importance than one day international.
Posted by nzcricket174 on (May 23, 2012, 9:51 GMT)Another cunning way for India to ensure they have no chance of losing.
