I agree....if not both ...atleast pandey should have been there in SA....bcz he picked up so many wickets with India A team in SA earlier.....if u are not selecting the guys based on performance.....then what was the case sending him with India a side.....instead sharma , kumar , yadav should have been sent to know the conditions better...

  • Al_Bundy1 on December 10, 2013, 4:15 GMT

Pankaj Singh and Ishwar Pandey should be in South Africa, instead of the 2 Sharmas - Ishant and Mohit.

  • Mharry on December 9, 2013, 16:32 GMT

guys like k L Rahul, rishi dhawan, jiwanjot, sandeep sharma ,saurabh tiwary , ishwar pandey etc(list is long)....should have been sent to england to play one full or even half of the county championship to give them exposure to difficult conditions.....i heard interview of wasim akram saying that how 1 stint at county made him a better cricketer.....so it would be right thing to do by bcci to send a pool of players to alien conditions for prolonged periods to test them .... so that in future we dont face such embarassing defeats like one in SA right now...

  • Sir_Ivor on December 9, 2013, 12:11 GMT

I am very impressed by K L Rahul. He seems to be a gentleman cricketer like the other rahul and probably has imbibed the great man's skills as well. For me he and Zol could be a useful opening pair on bouncy wickets abroad, I hope the selectors take them to New Zealand and England. Playing there wile hone their techniques.I am also very happy that Varun Aaron is slowly getting back to match fitness. He should carry on the good work of rehabilitation before he makes a comeback. I see the trio of Varun Umesh and Shami making a good trio with Bhuvi as the swing option. Indianeeds a good coach for bowling like Fanie De Villiers or someone who has good communication skills. John Dawes is probably finding it difficult to communicate with Umesh and Ishant. They have not improved at all. The BCCI should be thinking of such things and scheduling the foriegn tours instead of making a bid for more revenue. It is crazy really.

Its once again a pathetic show in the second inning by Mumbai in this Ranji Match. Target 365 available overs 67 ie asking rate 5.3. But no attempt by Mumbai players. If Mumbai win this match, it will get 6 pts plus pride, if lose Nil pts and Jharkhand will get 6 pts. Getting 6 pts doesnt make any difference to Mumbai because Jharkhand is at the bottom of table. Gettting 1 pt doesnt know if there is no improved show by Mumbai then 1 pt may be very crucial. Now Mumbai is looking for a draw means, it is looking for 1 pt than a pride and 6pts. Never such a show by Mumbai in Ranji. Yess and when run rate is demanding SA Yadav once again at no.7 who is having strike rate of 80% in FC games. That shows set of mind of Mumbai Team!

  • on December 9, 2013, 10:19 GMT

I think Mumbai Captain is not using potential of SA Yadav. He scored half centurty as no 7 batsman. He was among the top scorers during last Ranji Trophy having average of 50 with strike rate of 80. In spite of this, It is big surprise to see him playing at no 7 when Rahane, Rohit Sharma and Tendulkar not in the team. We never saw Mumbai settling for draw on the basis of 1st inning lead, but now Mumbai batsman are settling for draw, it seems that everybody among the top order are looking for individual score and average when poor batsman having strike rate of 80% coming at no 7. His strike rate in bowling is also very high but i observe that he only gets a single over before lunch or before Tea break and before close of the day. In spite of opposite team's batsman scoring century, I dont know why he is not getting a good spell? He is having 14 wickets in 20 first class matches with strike rate of 38.7 and with average of 17.42 in bowling. Is Cub level cricket gripping up MumbaiCricket?

looking at the way marathe ,hiken saha, and others are batting i think its hightime to give youngsters like shabaz khan, arman jaffer and pritvi shaw a chance to play for mumbai.

nice to see More bowling so well in second innings... batting looked very.fragile in second innings for Karnataka, but Binny's aggressive batting amidst regular fall of wickets made sure we won the game and went up in the point table to 2nd position... K L Rahul was jus amazing scoring crucial 98 runs in first innings...

  • Army_rangers on December 9, 2013, 5:01 GMT

Pheww..! Once again karnataka almost throw away the match.what a tense finish.thanks to binny and bowlers also rahul who scored 98 in one of the toughest pitch to bat in india..now one glad thing to see in this team is pace department..vinay,sharath,binny,mithun,arvind,ronith..wow.!!

  • on December 8, 2013, 10:06 GMT

Natraj Behera scored 158 against Delhi, good going odisha , hope we will win this match despite trailing in the 1st innings

  • on December 8, 2013, 10:02 GMT

For all those who were jumping about what Dhawan is doing in India (not SA) - All-rounder Rishi Dhawan has a mediocre 35 runs from 2 innings & 2 wickets to show for himself against Kerala....in a losing cause. ...So do I take it - Kerala is so far superior to SA that they managed to blunt Dhawan entirely ?

  • Ski94 on December 8, 2013, 4:48 GMT

Kerala keep the hopes alive by beating HP well done.........!

  • JRP100 on December 7, 2013, 15:01 GMT

Its a shame how inconsistent some of the domestic batsmen are, some of those who did well last season are doing really badly this season like juneja, jiwanjot, mandeep, menaria, chand... some of them showed that they couldve been international standard a year ago and now they're all struggling to even average 30. Its good to see aaron improving though and sandeep sharma and rishi dhawan are still performing well, they should be automatic selections as bowlers for the A team not the useless bowlers like unadkat vinay kumar imtiaz ahmed and shrikant wagh... these guys will be useless against better batsmen.

  • jokerbala on December 7, 2013, 13:28 GMT

Harshal Patel is much better than his team mate Mohit Sharma . People who have seen them bowl together in this Ranji will agree

  • Night.angel on December 7, 2013, 12:55 GMT

@jimbond, its not the case. Its a minefield in kannur so he opted not to bowl a lot of overs as spinners are enjoying the fortune. Apparently it seems Rishi dhawan has bowld lot more than any other fast bowler in DC.he bowled 238 overs from 6 matches. A machine. 42 wickets from 6 matches at an avg of 16 with strike rate 35. check this http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ranji-trophy-2013-14/engine/records/bowling/most_wickets_career.html?id=8307;type=tournament

  • on December 7, 2013, 11:54 GMT

Rishi Dhawan's wicket will be crucial on the third day morning. Shahid get back the rhythm in last innings..

  • on December 7, 2013, 11:19 GMT

all the best Delhi hope your profance is very good

  • jimbond on December 7, 2013, 10:57 GMT

It seems Rishi Dhawan is injured. He came in late in HP;s first innings and did not bowl in Kerala's second innings. Big blow for HP especially if the want to achieve the target and win the match. If he is injured, its another case of an Indian pace bowler not being able to maintain fitness levels.

What is the current status between TN Vs Baroda?

What is the current score of Bengal match!!!

  • on December 7, 2013, 9:29 GMT

hope karnataka bats wel and scores around 500 till tea tomorrow so they can bowl haryana out. rahul looks an outstanding prospect for india

  • pull_shot on December 7, 2013, 7:36 GMT

Just seen d profiles of quicks in mumbai team they r all inexperienced and does n't look good stat's wise but good double by tiwary

  • Titus05 on December 7, 2013, 5:19 GMT

How is kerala doing in the second innings... ? please update

  • Ski94 on December 7, 2013, 5:11 GMT

Kerala takes lead great bowling from prasanth took 7 wickets.....!

  • on December 7, 2013, 4:50 GMT

Where is Murali Vijay? Why he is not playing this match?

  • Titus05 on December 7, 2013, 4:49 GMT

Saurabh Tiwary's double-century may not be the the performance of the season, as the season is yet to get over,, but it is certainly among the top and will force the selectors to think about him again.

  • on December 6, 2013, 17:11 GMT

On what basis selectors have selected Yuvi and Raina ? Instead atleast they could have given some chance to Manish Pandey or somebody like Badri

  • shripadk on December 6, 2013, 12:46 GMT

That is ridiculous scoreboard the Mumbai vs Jharkhand. But Mumbai still has upper hand. We always knew there is only 1 quality player in Jharkhand. Little too much to do for one man to be honest against team like Mumbai. They can hope for draw at best.

Sehwag's downfall was expected because he is not naturally talented with class & footwork. He relies on hand eye coordination & reflexes which reduces when a person approaches mid 30s. We will see the same happening with Chris gayle as well. Thats what differentiates the class of Sachin Tendulkar & Rahul Dravid from Sehwag.

Forget about Sehwag making a comeback, its a matter of time before he gets dropped from the Delhi Ranji Team.

  • mmmuthukumar on December 6, 2013, 8:35 GMT

Sehwag should eye the Eng tour next year or the Aus tour. Take a break, Come fresh, He can still play tests for the next 5 years. WE LOVE YOU

Yuvi & Raina not deserved a place in SA tour. DK should have been instead of Yuvi.

  • loke_team on December 6, 2013, 6:15 GMT

Sehwag should take break from cricket, and should concentrate on his fitness like uvraj and ZK did, and should play some county matches.... India need his service in down under Australia and in worldcup 2015....

when Ravikant Shukla leads Goa now the goa performance become upgrade, ravikant was under 19 captain in 2006 but unfortunate he did not done well like virat and kaif but now he is leading well.

  • on December 6, 2013, 4:48 GMT

I am perhaps the most staunch Sehwag fan, but seeing him bat like this is quite disheartining.
