News : Daredevils don't retain any players
Players/Officials: Virender Sehwag
Teams: India

Virender Sehwag, who has been out of the Indian team since early 2013, has said he still has hopes of making a comeback into the national side. Sehwag's last Test for India was against Australia in March 2013, while he last played an ODI in January 2013 against Pakistan.

Sehwag's recent form has also been poor. In 10 first-class matches this season, Sehwag scored 279 runs at an average of 19.92 with one fifty. The numbers include his Ranji Trophy performances for Delhi - 234 runs in seven matches at 19.50.

"I am still practising [the big shots]," Sehwag told NDTV. "Everybody wants to play for India and the youngsters are playing well. They are good players and they are scoring runs but I am trying hard, I am working hard on my skills and cricket. Hopefully I will get one more chance before I retire.

"From my point of view, yes, they are playing well and doing well, so all the best to them. What I can do is I can train hard. I can go out there and play first-class matches and play club-level tournaments and try to score runs. That I can control, but I can't control other things like selection."

The batsman also hoped Delhi Daredevils, his IPL franchise over the previous six years, would buy him back in the forthcoming auction. Daredevils did not retain any of its players before the auction, the only franchise to do so, and will go into the auction with a full purse of Rs 600 million (approx US$9.6 million) and three right-to-match cards.

"I am going to the auction in the IPL and anybody can buy me. If somebody will buy me and Gautam [Gambhir] is there, or some other international cricketer is there, I'll get a chance to play along with them," Sehwag said. "It's a good opportunity for the franchises, they have the option of buying big players and we are available. I am hoping the same team will buy me. Let's see what happens in the auction."

There is no doubt that Viru is one of the Greatest entertainer of Cricket.Looking at the Currenet Opening Pair in the tour of SA and NZ ,team,Dhoni and the Selection committee would feel how much we miss the Game of Shewag the Great Entertainer. His record in Test,Oneday and 20/20 would tell anybody how barely we need his presence in the team.I'm expecting Shewag,Gambir,Pathan Brothers,Yuvi,Praveen Kumar,Manoj Tiwari,DK back to the team soon.Shewag and team we miss you.Tea pls give channces to them also try to use other good players often like Rahane,Abisheik Nair,Saurab Tiwari,Rasool,Stuart Binny instead of giving so many chances to Rohit,Jadeja,Murali Vijay, etc....Rohit if he scores one 50 out of 10 matches that would be more than enough as per Dhoni and comittee to retain him in the squad for the next 2 to 3 series.so many chances.too bad..also not sure why there are taking Saha as Back up keeper always by not giving chances to him and to others.I think Dhoni want to be safe...

Previously thought Sehwag & Gambhir's time was permanently finished with India but the way Dhawan & Rohit are struggling, the door is perhaps slightly ajar for our stalwarts to make a comeback! Sehwag is definitely one of our all-time greats as well as a great entertainer - so he deserves to make a comeback & then get a proper farewell from fans when he decides to call it a day & quit cricket for good. However he needs to get back on merit - by making big scores on the domestic circuit & proving his fitness - rather than just for sentiment reasons.

Sehwag is a 'game changer'. He presence in the batting line-up terrorize bowlers. He is one of the few players in the world, who plays for fans & India, not for personal statistics .. Rohit, Sheekhar, M Vijay, Raina, etc.. are NO match for Sehwag. Bowlers all around the world are breathing ez that Sehwag is not in Team India. Wake Up , Indian Selection committee.. Do yourself a favor, include Sehwag in team India. He is a Match Winner ..

For me one of the most gifted and effective test winner for India AND ONE OF A KIND AND MIGHT END UP AS A ALLTIME GREAT WITH HIS NUMBERS, per todays standards he is only young, it is all about the hunger and he will come back, guys like C Rogers and , Harris have shown age is not a handicap, but form and fitness is important, good luck to him from a big FAN

Sehwag won't strike form again till he works agin on his fitness . He is basically a hand -eye coordination player who relies more on his reflexes .Unless those improve , there is no way we can see him back to form .

I really hope and wish that gets back , simply love his audacious strokeplay and match winning ability .
