Shikhar Dhawan propels Mumbai's chase

Sachin Tendulkar doesn't get overshadowed often, even if it is only for a little while, but Shikhar Dhawan achieved just that during Mumbai Indians' successful chase against Chennai Super Kings at the Brabourne Stadium.

He provided the acceleration in pursuit of Chennai's 180, setting the ball rolling with a cover drive off L Balaji in the second over. However, it was in the fifth that Dhawan really took off, carting Joginder Sharma's medium pace for three boundaries in the space of four balls. Two were pulled, the third was a powerful flick.

Dhawan turned his attention on Balaji thereafter, pulling over midwicket and square leg for massive sixes to put Mumbai ahead of the asking-rate. MS Dhoni brought on the spinner Shadab Jakati but Dhawan greeted the left-armer with a reverse-swat to the boundary. In Jakati's second over, Dhawan charged and lofted over the straight boundary to bring up his fifty off 31 balls with a six. He fell two balls later, attempting another big hit, but his 56 off 34 balls was instrumental in Mumbai's victory.
