Scorecard
Salman Butt hit an attractive century and Yasir Hameed piled up 92 runs as the West Indies bowlers were made to toil hard in their two-day tour opener against the PCB Patron's XI at Bagh-e-Jinnah Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday. Skipper Asim Kamal (33) and Misbah-ul-Haq (38) were unbeaten at stumps.
Butt, who smashed 106 before retiring at tea, added 175 runs for the opening wicket with Hameed as the hosts made 305 for 4 after winning the toss.
Butt, who had lost his place in the Pakistan team earlier this year, hit 19 boundaries during his 244-minute knock as none of the West Indian bowlers could find any assistance from an easy paced wicket. Butt had last represented Pakistan in the Leeds Test earlier this year.
Hameed, recalled to Pakistan's 15-man squad for the first two Tests agains the Windies, hit 12 fours and a six in his knock, which lasted 196 minutes.
After West Indies' three-pronged pace attack failed to provide a breakthrough, it was chinaman bowler Dave Mohammed who finally dismissed Hameed in the 45th over of the day. Hameed miscued a cut and was caught by wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin.
Fidel Edwards then accounted for Shahid Yousuf (12) and Dwayne Bravo removed Bazid Khan (2) to end day with a consolation for West Indies.
West Indies rested Chris Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, and Jerome Taylor for the match. Gayle was suffering from a stomach bug he had caught during the Champions Trophy final.
