Colin Ingram has been appointed captain of the Warriors franchise for the upcoming domestic season. Ingram will take over from Davy Jacobs after directors of the franchise felt it was "time for change".
"Ingram, with his international experience, had captained the team on a couple of occasions in the absence of Davy Jacobs and has shown that he possesses all the attributes to lead the team into a new era," the franchise said in a release. "Ingram has remained true to his roots and stayed with the Warriors after his national contract was not renewed last season."
John Ross-Smith, the chairman of the franchise board, said they believed that the hard-working Ingram would lead by example and assist the young Warriors team to once again bring back silverware to the Eastern Cape.
The board thanked Jacobs for his "massive" contribution as captain over the past six years, and said he still had a vital role to play within the team on and off the field. Jacobs had guided his team to the Standard Bank Pro20 and the MTN40 titles in 2009-10, the first trophies ever won by the franchise.
