Titans coach Walter gets three-year extension

Rob Walter, the Titans coach, has signed a three-year extension with the franchise that will keep him with the team until 2017

Rob Walter, the Titans coach, has signed a three-year extension that will keep him with the team until 2017. Walter, who had served as South Africa's conditioning coach, took charge of the franchise in May 2013 on a two-year contract and succeeded Matthew Maynard in the role.
Under his guidance, Titans shared the Momentum One-Day Cup title with Cape Cobras and also reached the semi-final of the Ram Slam T20 challenge in the 2013-14 domestic season. Walter was also nominated in Cricket South Africa's Coach of the year category for 2014.
"It is a huge honour to be given this extension and I am grateful for the faith that all parties have shown in me, that said nothing has changed in my commitment to continue the process of growing the Titans franchise into the leading team in the country," Walter said in a press release.
His role with Titans is Walter's first coaching job although he was previously involved as an assistant with the same union under Dave Nosworthy. Before joining Titans, Walter was also South Africa's fitness trainer for six years. He has also worked with IPL franchises, Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors.
