A brilliant, unbeaten 134 from Laden Gamiet was not enough for Western Province as Border held on by four runs at East London. He could not have done much more than his 104-ball innings, but his partners couldn't keep up with the rate. Matthew Richardson hit 69 but used 114 balls, meaning the asking rate was always rising. WP's 271 for 8 was built around a 97-ball 90 from Dominic Telo and some solid contributions from the lower order as they turned the innings around from 58 for 4 in the 13th over.
Sharad Mandan guided Easterns to a comfortable seven-wicket win over Free State with an assured century, comfortably his best one-day score. He added the match-winning stand of 153 with Adolf van den Berg (65) as Easterns cantered to their target of 214 with nearly 10 overs to spare. For Free State, only Lefa Mosena with 70 provided any innings of real substance as other batsmen wasted promising starts. van der Berg had a fine all-round game, also claiming 3 for 36.
Griqualand West completed a powerful 74-run win against Gauteng, with a commanding all-round performance. Their total was boosted to 250 by Wendell Bossenger's 87 off 75 balls, while Christoffel de Jager and Alan Doherty also struck crisp half-centuries. Gauteng's run chase never got off the ground as they fell to 31 for 3 in the sixth over. Bradley Lemmetjies wrapped up the tail with 4 for 25.
