Veletta comment on Williams injury

WESTERN Warriors coach Michael Veletta has offered the following comments in explanation to the withdrawal today of fast-bowler Brad Williams from the Pura Cup match against New South Wales.
Williams withdrew from the important match on the morning of the game after suffering severe soreness in his right elbow.
"There was a concern with Brad during training yesterday," Veletta said.
"He received treatment yesterday and all diagnosis through the afternoon and last night indicated Brad would be in a position to take his rightful place in our team.
"The injury, unfortunately, flared again overnight.
"Brad suffered severe soreness in his elbow while trying to bowl during our warm-up prior to the match and he was forced to withdraw his services from this important game."
Williams woke this morning (Thursday) with his elbow inflamed.
He underwent intensive treatment yesterday and a full warm-up in an attempt to play what is effectively an elimination final for both sides.
"I was sore while bowling on Wednesday, but I pulled up well from treatment and ice treatment to the elbow yesterday," he said.
"I was concerned when I woke this (Thursday) morning with swelling in the elbow.
"I warmed the elbow up fully through manipulation from physiotherapist Ross Clifford, but I just couldn't get through to my top pace without discomfort."
Williams remains confident he will recover in time for the Warriors last Pura Cup qualifying match of the season against Victoria at the MCG starting next Thursday.
"It's not serious and on advice from Ross (Clifford) I should have full motion and top pace back in time to play in Melbourne," Williams said.
