Western Warriors awarded points from abandoned Hobart Pura Cup match

The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) has announced that the Western Warriors have been awarded six points for the abandoned Western Warriors/Tasmanian Tigers match, which was due to be held in Hobart on 5-8 February.

The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) has announced that the Western Warriors have been awarded six points for the abandoned Western Warriors/Tasmanian Tigers match, which was due to be held in Hobart on 5-8 February.
That game was abandoned at lunch on day two because both umpires and the opposing captains believed the state of the pitch made it dangerous for the match to continue.
ACB Chief Executive Officer James Sutherland said today the decision to award the Western Warriors the six points, the maximum available, was made by a forum appointed to consider an ACB Cricket Operations Department report into the match.
The forum, which met in Melbourne, was headed by senior ACB Code of Behaviour Commissioner, Judge Gordon Lewis, and also included former Test player Rick McCosker and Melbourne solicitor Paul Ryan.
The forum said the proper precautions were not taken to ensure the pitch was properly prepared.
