Australia v West Indies, 2012-13

Wisden's review of the Twenty20 International, Australia vs West Indies, 2012-13

15-Apr-2014
At Brisbane, February 13, 2013 (floodlit). West Indies won by 27 runs. Toss: West Indies. Twenty20 international debuts: N. M. Coulter-Nile, J. R. Hazlewood, B. J. Rohrer; T. L. Best.
West Indies capitalised on a clash in the international schedule to beat Australia on their own turf for the first time in 16 years. The only survivor from their last victory, in February 1997 - when Courtney Walsh's side beat Mark Taylor's in the Perth Test - was Paul Reiffel, then an Australian seamer and now standing as an umpire. As Bailey led a barely recognisable side on to the Gabba, another Australian XI were in the midst of a two-day match in Chennai, preparing for the Test series against India. Those players would probably have made little difference against a bevy of West Indian hitters bursting with Big Bash pedigree. Gayle flopped again, but Charles and the rest battered Australia's all-pace attack. The chase was cruelled by two run-outs in four balls, both involving Voges soon after he had brought up his fifty, and Australia lacked the firepower to fight back.
Man of the Match: K. A. Pollard.
