Scorecard
Jamaica had the better of the exchanges for the second day as well, scoring 258 before reducing Barbados to 149 for 5. Chris Gayle starred for Jamaica with his 76, and was dismissed by Pedro Collins, who took 4 for 56.
Starting the day at 135 for 2, Jamaica would have looked to shut Barbados out of the game with a tall score. But the bowlers got their act together and picked up wickets at regular intervals. Jamaica eventually got to 258 - a score that would have been competitive if Barbados had picked themselves up and displayed the good form that had brought them to the final.
It wasn't to be. Keith Wilkinson and Nurse fell within five runs of each other, and though a 52-run partnership ensued between Ryan Hinds and Sherwin Campbell, Gayle dismissed Hinds (25), and the fall of wickets continued. Campbell had looked threatening for the brief while he was at the crease, but Richardson trapped him in front for 49. Then, just before the end of the day, Smith was dismissed for seven, and Barbados, with not much batting left, and only a 33-run lead, were staring down a pretty dark barrel.
