Fast bowler Doug Bracewell has been called up to the New Zealand A squad for the tour of England as a replacement for the injured Adam Milne. Bracewell lost his place in the Test squad earlier this year due to disciplinary issues and gets his chance to press his Test case after Milne was sidelined with an elbow injury for six weeks.
"Doug has been working very hard on and off the field to restore his relationship with the selectors, and his change of attitude has been noted," Bruce Edgar, New Zealand selection chief, said. "He understands the trust that has been placed in him, and is delighted to have a chance to show he's learnt from his mistakes."
Bracewell, 23, had showed signs of his ability to thrive at the international level more than two years ago when he starred in the famous Test win over Australia in Hobart. He was a regular in the Test side for the next couple of years before the disciplinary trouble cost him his place. He was also not awarded a central contract this year by New Zealand Cricket.
