England's World Cup winning team of 1993 re-unite to face new England stars

Clare Taylor MBE will leave her place in the current England women's cricket team to rejoin her England 1993 world cup winning team-mates for a one-off charity match

Clare Taylor MBE will leave her place in the current England women's cricket team to rejoin her England 1993 world cup winning team-mates for a one-off charity match.
The Vodafone women's world cup challenge will be played on Friday 5th September at the Nursery Ground, Lord's, starting at 1pm.
Clare Connor will lead a current England XI without Taylor and England's wicketkeeper, Jane Smit, who both won the World Cup with England in 1993 and return to that team.
Otherwise, Connor can call on the young stars who helped secure a resounding NatWest Women's Series and npower Women's Test Series win against South Africa in August and Karen Smithies, Captain in 1993, also has her first XI available for selection.
Clare Taylor admits "I've seen such a lot of changes in the women's game since 1993, but I'm really looking forward to going back to the team and the venue where it all started for me.
It will be the first time the '93 team have all been together since winning the World Cup. The team spirit was immense then, and as there are players who haven't picked up their bats since, it will have to be on Friday too!
It's a great way to celebrate the tenth anniversary, and it will be a fun game but I'm sure it will be competitive! Hopefully, we'll raise lots of money for The Cot Death Society and we'll all have a great day at Lord's".
Jo Chamberlain, a World Cup winner in 1993 lost her son, Scott, to cot death in February 2000 and, with the help of England players such as Clare Taylor, has been fundraising for The Cot Death Society since.
Entry to the match is free. Spectators will be asked to make a donation to The Cot Death Society.
Clare Taylor is available for interview this week and all players will be available for interview on Friday 5th at 12 noon at The Nursery Ground.
