A precocious debut by 21-year-old Jonathan Bairstow meant Dravid (probably) ended his 344- match one-day career in defeat, and India concluded their tour without a single victory in ten internationals. Called up the previous afternoon because of injury to Stokes, Bairstow walked out under the floodlights with England needing 75 off 50 balls, and calmly slog-swept his fifth delivery for six. Twice thereafter he hit the ball out of the ground, before finishing with 41 from 21 as England completed a 3-0 series win with ten deliveries to spare. With him at the end was Bopara, who had fallen shy in the previous three matches. Their alliance began after Bell and Trott, who struck his first two sixes in his 35th one-day international, fell in successive overs as England chased yet another revised target, this time 241 from 34 overs - a task made easier when Munaf Patel slipped on the greasy outfield and left on a stretcher. Defeat for India was hard to take after they had racked up their biggest international total of the tour. Kohli hit a wristy 107 from 93 balls before treading on his stumps as he flicked Swann to leg, and added 170 with Dravid, whose 69 - his 95th score of 50 or more in one-day internationals in his first series for two years - took him to a final tally of 10,889 runs. Dravid's dismissal prompted much shaking of hands in the middle, which turned to shaking of heads for the bowlers as Dhoni powered his way to 50 from 26 deliveries. But Bairstow trumped the lot of them.
