Guyana getting its event management plan ready for ICC CWC 2007

Guyana's Event Management Plan for ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 has received positive feedback from ICC CWC 2007 Manager, Event Management Department Trudy Clark who visited that Host Venue earlier this week

Guyana's Event Management Plan for ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 has received positive feedback from ICC CWC 2007 Manager, Event Management Department Trudy Clark who visited that Host Venue earlier this week.
Speaking following a series of meetings and briefings, Clark lauded Guyana's Event Management planning, adding that she is happy to work with the Guyana Local Organising Committee (LOC) to ensure everything operates smoothly during next year's tournament.
Noting that the presentations were "very informative", she said: "The workshop provided me the opportunity to be brought up to speed with the activities that are currently going on and I think that planning is on track at the moment from an Event Management perspective. I am looking forward to working with the team to ensure we keep that planning on track and we are able to deliver the Best Cricket World Cup Ever."
Since joining the organisation late last year, the Australian Event Management expert, who worked on ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 in South Africa and other major cricket events, has been paying courtesy calls on all LOCs to get first-hand updates on each Host Venue's progress with Event Management planning.
During her visit to Guyana from February 6-8, Clark held discussions with Guyana's LOC CEO Karan Singh who gave her a thorough briefing on that country's preparations to host six Second Stage - Super Eight matches from March 27 to April 10, 2007.
On Tuesday, she held a one-day workshop with the Guyana LOC to share ideas and to make a PowerPoint presentation on "Spectator and Visitor Experience". Clark touched on the quality of service that is expected, especially at the port of arrival, in particular our region's airports noting that what a visitor sees on arrival in a country leaves a lasting impression.
In relation to Match Day Operations, she also spoke about spectator experience in and around Providence Stadium which is under construction for ICC CWC 2007 matches. This, she noted, includes transport to the venue, access to the stadium, volunteer preparedness, stadium entertainment precincts, signage, waste management and many other relevant areas.
"The new modern stadiums have been designed with the enhanced spectator experience in mind and we must capitalise on these infrastructure improvements with world-class operations and service delivery from all match-day stakeholders."
Clark - who will visit Antigua, Barbados, Saint Lucia and St. Vincent in the coming weeks - also toured Providence Stadium and several facilities identified for Park and Ride and Park and Walk, including Merriman's Mall, National Cultural Centre, Providence Community Centre and Joe Vieira Park. Before departing for Trinidad & Tobago yesterday, the ICC CWC 2007 official paid a courtesy call on Guyana's LOC Chairman, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Anthony Xavier.
