India have now won six straight matches, making this their longest winning streak in T20 internationals. Before this, India had won five consecutive matches, starting with their win against England in a league game of the 2007 World T20. England and Ireland have the longest streak of wins in T20Is, both having won eight matches on the trot.

R Ashwin's figures of 4 for 11 are the best figures by an India bowler in T20 internationals, beating Harbhajan Singh's 4 for 12 against England in the last World T20. Ashwin's previous best was 2 for 15 against Bangladesh in the last match.

Ashwin's figures were also the best at Mirpur, beating Samuel Badree's 4 for 15 against Bangladesh in an earlier league game in this tournament.

Yuvraj Singh's 60 is his third fifty against Australia and his eighth in T20Is. He has scored 247 runs against them at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 170.34. His highest T20I score also came against Australia in India's previous match against them, when he hit an unbeaten 35-ball 77.

Yuvraj has gone past Gautam Gambhir to become the top run-scorer for India in T20 internationals. He has hit 939 runs at 32.37 from 35 innings at a strike rate of 148.8, while Gambhir has 932 runs from 36 innings at an average of 27.41 and at a strike rate of 119.02.

The 84-run partnership between Yuvraj and MS Dhoni is India's third-highest for the fifth wicket. India's highest partnership for the fifth wicket came in their last match against the same opposition, when Yuvraj and Dhoni added 102 while chasing 202 in Rajkot.

Australia's 73-run defeat in this match was their third worst ever in T20 internationals when fielding first. Australia's worst defeat in T20Is was against England in only the second T20I, at the Rose bowl in 2005, when they lost by a margin of 100 runs. This was also India's second-biggest win in terms of runs. Their biggest win came against England in the last World T20 when they won by 90 runs.

Australia were bundled out for their second-lowest total in T20 internationals, in this match. This is only the 11th time in 72 T20Is that Australia have been bowled out. Their lowest Australia have been bowled out for in T20Is is 79, by England at the Rose Bowl in 2005.
