Stuart Binny's six wickets helped India beat hosts Bangladesh by 47 runs in the second ODI played in Mirpur last week.
India batted first, in conditions that favoured the fast bowlers, and managed just 105 runs in 25.3 overs, even as rain held up play for nearly two-and-a-half hours. Taskin Ahmed did the bulk of the damage for Bangladesh and claimed five wickets from his eight-over spell.
Bangladesh struggled in their innings and lost two wickets in the first three overs. Captain Mushfiqur Rahim and Mithun Ali dropped anchor and put on a 31-run stand for the third wicket.
It was then that Binny came into the attack. The medium pacer beat Ali twice in his first over and then dismissed Rahim in the next over. He then claimed the other settled batsman, Ali, in his third over. A ball later, he dismissed Mahmudullah, who tried an expansive drive away from his body.
Bangladesh were reduced to 50 for five by the 14th over. The hosts failed to recover from the procession of wickets and collapsed eight runs later.
"The plan was to come out hard, the wicket was doing a bit. We just wanted to put pressure on them by not bowling boundary balls," Binny said.
"We started believing as soon as we got a couple of wickets. At the break we just spoke of bowling in good areas and coming hard at them. I'd love to bowl on this wicket every day."
India's captain, Suresh Raina, lauded his bowlers for making the most of the conditions.
"I thought we needed to score 180 at least, but the way they bowled, especially Stuart Binny and Mohit Sharma, was unbelievable. This performance will definitely help Binny when he plays Test cricket in England. I knew I have to keep faith in the bowlers," Raina said.
