India v Sri Lanka, 1st Test, Ahmedabad, 4th day

19-Nov-2009
Mahela Jayawardene and Prasanna Jayawardene continued to pile it on the fourth morning and frustrated India with their ability to rotate the strike with frequency. The pair added a record 351 for the sixth wicket and helped extend Sri Lanka's lead to 334.
Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir delivered a strong response from India in the second innings, adding 81 for the opening wicket. Sehwag, though, was lucky to survive in the initial stages of his innings, but the manner in which the pair batted from then on indicated there were few devils in the pitch for India to contend with.
Sri Lanka managed to get two breakthroughs before stumps, getting Sehwag to a rash shot and more importantly, Rahul Dravid, who was trapped in front by Chanaka Welegedara for 38. India were 190 for 2 at stumps, but Dravid's loss relatively early into India's attempt to survive the Test is a major boost for the visitors.
