India v West Indies

At Nagpur, November 9, 2002

15-Apr-2004
At Nagpur, November 9, 2002. West Indies won by seven wickets (D/L method). Toss: West Indies.
India paid the price for playing an extra bowler on yet another batsman's pitch. West Indies timed their chase of a 280-run target perfectly, with Gayle scoring an aggressive century. Ganguly had given India a solid start, passing 8,000 one-day runs en route, but, despite a 105-run stand in 85 balls between Laxman and Dravid, India fell at least 20 short of par on this pitch. Once again, the crowd stopped play, bombarding the West Indian fielders; this interruption, plus a late start because of dew, reduced the game to 47 overs a side.
Man of the Match: C. H. Gayle.
