Jamaica and Guyana post big wins

Leeward Islands collapsed spectacularly on the final day at St Elizabeth as Jamaica romped home by 260 runs. Chasing a massive 405, Leeward Islands got off to a solid start and reached 87 for 1. But that was when they crumbled as Andrew Richardson and Odean Brown sliced through the batting line-up. Wilden Cornwall, who top-scored with 49, was lbw to Brown and it was downhill thereafter. Both teams were evenly matched in the first innings and jostled for the lead. Having gained a slender lead, Jamaica stamped their dominance on the game when they batted for the second time. Chris Gayle led the way with a stunning 219 and Jamaica raced to 394 in quick time. That left Leeward Islands a target of 405, and it proved way beyond their reach.

Guyana 444 beat Kenya 139 and 191 (Modi 50, Nagamootoo 5-45) by and innings and 114 runs

At Georgetown, the Guyana bowlers completed the formalities, by picking up the last three wickets, as they crushed Kenya by a mammoth margin of an innings and 114 runs. Following-on, still 305 runs behind, Kenya were in a hopeless position at the end of the third day at 172 for 7. Rayon Griffith, the medium-pacer, ran through the tail and finished with 3 for 25. For Kenya, Kennedy Otieno (70) and Hitesh Modi (50) were the only performers of note. Guyana's huge total was largely built around Ramnaresh Sarwan's 199. Mahendra Nagamootoo lead the bowling effort with 8 for 91 in the match.

Windward Islands 427 and 11 for 0 beat West Indies B 197 and 237 (Richards 59, Williams 55, Thomas 5-49) by 10 wickets

Windward Islands completed an easy 10-wicket win over West Indies B in Grenada. It took the Windward Island bowlers only 14.1 overs in the morning to wrap up the innings. Fernix Thomas, the fast bowler, finished with 5 for 49 while Rawl Lewis picked up the important wicket of Kenroy Williams (55). West Indies B managed to avoid an innings defeat, but only just. A target of 8 was never a concern and the Windward Island openers finished it off without any fuss.

Champions Barbados completed their seventh straight victory, crushing Trinidad & Tobago by 246 runs at Pointe-a-Pierre. T&T, 60 for 4 overnight, subsided for 146 on the final day, with only Gibran Mohammed, their wicketkeeper, holding Barbados up for long with an undefeated 39. Daren Ganga, the T&T captain, didn't add to his overnight 16 before falling lbw to Fidel Edwards, and Edwards ended some last-wicket fun from Marlon Black, who clubbed 16, by having him caught behind to finish with 4 for 48.
