Jason Holder claims four wickets to topple UAE

Jason Holder claimed four wickets for just 27 runs to help West Indies pip the United Arab Emirates by six wickets in their last World Cup 2015 Group B match played in Napier on Sunday.

Holder's heroics ensured that UAE set his team a target of just 176 in 36.2 overs to ensure a place in the quarter-final, barring a tie in the Pakistan-Ireland game. West Indies' batsmen did it in 30.3 overs.

Holder drew first blood in just the third over of the match and dismissed opener Andri Berenger for just seven, two-overs later he accounted for Krishna Chandran and then Amjad Ali.

UAE struggled to cope with the swing that Holder and Jerome Taylor extracted from the surface. Holder added another wickets to his tally and had reduced the associate side to six for 46 by the 14th over.

A 107-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Nasir Aziz and Amjad Javed helped UAE eventually post a respectable 175.

Johnson Charles and Dwayne Smith ensured that West Indies got off to a quick start with the bat. Charles smashed a 40-ball 55 before he was dismissed. Johathan Carter and Denesh Ramdin took their side home in 30.3 overs and gave them a strong chance of making the quarter-finals.

"The ball came out really well for me at the start, also got some good bounce. Just concentrated on bowling in the right areas. It was a bit slow, but I was happy to get some movement. Extremely pleased with how the games came out to play. It was a must-win and we were able to accomplish it. We had to show the intent and try to finish the game before 36 overs, which we were able to achieve. NZ are obviously playing some very good cricket, so we will look ahead to that if we are able to make it to the quarter-finals," Holder said.
