Karachi Whites put Sialkot on the back foot

Karachi Whites had Sialkot reeling at 144 for 8 after being dismissed for 272 at the UBL Sports Complex. Tanvir Ahmed took centrestage for Karachi with figures of 4 for 39. The only resistance from Sialkot came from opener Naeemuddin, who scored 35 and a late-order blitz from wicketkeeper Khalid Mahmood, who blasted an unbeaten 35 off 37 balls, with four fours and two sixes. Earlier, Javed Mansoor, the debutant wicketkeeper, remained unbeaten on 77, as Karachi added 30 runs to their overnight score before being bowled out. Mansoor's 104-run stand for the ninth wicket with fellow debutant Misbah Khan, ended when Khan was dismissed for 47. Sialkot, the runners-up last season, have not gained a point in this season, having lost two of their three matches.

Water and Power Development Authority(WAPDA), led by an unbeaten 155 from Tariq Aziz, were in a strong position at 307 for 2 in response to Faisalabad's 268 at the Iqbal Stadium. Aziz shared an unbroken 284-run stand for the third-wicket with his captain, Aamer Sajjad, who remained one run short of his fifth first-class hundred.

Saeed Bin Nasir's unbeaten 140 helped Sui Southern Gas Company (SCGC) to 336 for 6 against Hyderabad at the Niaz Stadium. Nasir's 10th first-class hundred featured 20 fours and a six. SCGC have now gained a lead of 109 runs

Pakistan Customs, the bottom placed team in Group A, were staring at an innings defeat against Lahore Ravi at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground, after collapsing to 28 for 4, with 72 runs still required to avoid an innings defeat,with Waqas Ahmed being the chief destructor with figures of 3 for 14. Earlier allrounder Arsalan Mir's 66 led Lahore to 212 in response to Customs' first-innings score of 112

National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) piled on the runs against Multan at the Gymkhana Ground, scoring 514 with hundreds from Naumanullah (161) and Rashid Raza (128), 73 from Shahid Yousuf and a 37-ball 61 from bowler Wasim Khan. Multan had reached 115 for 2 in reply, with Hammad Tariq, the left-handed opener, remaining unbeaten on 68. Multan, however, still face a deficit of 250 runs to make NBP bat again. Earlier, NBP had built on their overnight score of 307 for 1 to put them in a good position.

Islamabad were on the verge of their first defeat this season, when, at 158 for 5, they only had a lead of 36 runs against Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) at the Diamond Cricket Club Ground. Earlier, Rauf Akbar, took 5 for 55 to dismiss ZTBL for 217. But ZTBL nevertheless took a lead of 122 runs, having bowled out Islamabad for 95 on the first day. ZTBL were able to build on their 118 for 5 due to captain Abdul Razzaq, who top-scored with 55.

Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) scored 236 for 3 to go ahead of Lahore Shalimar at the Gadaffi Stadium. Mohammad Wasim, the KRL captain, led the way with 125 off 192 balls with 21 fours. He was supported by Azhar Ali, the No. 3 batsman, who remained unbeaten on 64. Earlier, Lahore added only 26 runs to their overnight score of 201 for 6 to be bowled out for 227.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) bowled out Peshawar for 111 before scoring 184 for 4, to gain a 302-run first-innings lead at the Arbab Niaz Stadium. The best PIA bowler on view was Aizaz Cheema, who took 6 for 38. After this, PIA had collapsed to 4 for 46 before they were rescued by opener Khurram Manzoor and Fahad Iqbal. Mazsoor scored an unbeaten 106, and shared an unbroken 138-run stand for the fifth-wicket with Fahad Iqbal, who was on 50.

Quetta, riding on career-best knocks from Shoaib Khan jnr (185) and captain Nasim Khan (151), scored 461 against Abbottabad at the Bugti Stadium. Shoaib's knock included 24 fours and a six, while Nasim hit 14 fours and two sixes. The duo were involved in a 289-run fourth-wicket stand as Quetta built on their overnight score of 355 for 4. In response, Abbottabad were 143 for 3, with 168 runs required to avoid the follow-on.

Rawalpindi were in trouble against Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) at the KRL Ground, collapsing to 135 for 6, still facing a deficit of 171 runs. Earlier, SNGPL added only 57 runs to their overnight 249 for 4, to be bowled out for 306; with Yasir Ali taking 5 for 81 for Rawalpindi.
