Kent 301 and 298 for 8 dec beat Nottinghamshire 184 (Cook 5-44) and 219 (Hall 4-42) by 196 runs
Scorecard
Kent completed their fourth Championship win of the season as their new signing, Andrew Hall, brushed aside some feeble Nottinghamshire resistance at Trent Bridge. Needing an unlikely 416 for victory, Notts were indifferently placed at 46 for 1 overnight, but Anurag Singh fell early to Simon Cook and thereafter resistance was hard to come by. Amjad Khan and Min Patel precipitated a collapse of three wickets for two runs in the middle order, as Chris Read completed a pair, and once Hall had ripped through the tail, Notts were left dangling on 146 for 9. Cue some happy hitting from Ryan Sidebottom and, especially, the new signing, Oliver Newby - who clobbered 38 not out from 39 balls in a last-wicket stand of 73 - but it was never going to be enough to avert defeat.
Hampshire 401 for 8 dec and 80 for 1 beat Glamorgan 229 and 250 (Powell 68, Ervine 5-60) by nine wickets
Scorecard
A battling 68 from Michael Powell anchored Glamorgan's second innings at The Rose Bowl and enabled them to avoid an innings defeat, but Sean Ervine and Chris Tremlett combined to send them tumbling to their fifth straight defeat of the season. Resuming on 77 for 1, Glamorgan lost wickets at regular intervals with only Powell and his captain, Robert Croft, able to resist for long in a sixth-wicket partnership of 65. Needing 79 for victory, Hampshire set off like the clappers, with Simon Katich racing to 28 from 20 balls before being pinned lbw by Croft. John Crawley, however, was on hand to seal the victory inside 15 overs.
