Kent got the better end of a drab rain-affected draw against Warwickshire by taking 12 points from their Championship match at Edgbaston. Rain on the first two days ensured that a result was out of the question when Kent resumed the final day on 103 for 1. Robert Key struck 153 off 268 balls while Martin van Jaarsveld scored 85 to take Kent to 400 for 4 before stumps. Alfonso Thomas, the South African in his first appearance for Warwickshire, took 3 for 73 and was the pick of the nine bowlers used.
Worcestershire completed an impressive victory against Yorkshire at Kidderminster. Click here for John Ward's report.

The two matches in Division Two ended in predictable draws, with neither match reaching a second-innings stage. The rain had frustrated Somerset's chances to gain a big lead at the top in their match against bottom-placed Glamorgan. Somerset reached 400 for 6 at Sophia Gardens, thanks mainly to Justin Langer's century, and there were fifties too for Neil McKenzie, on his Somerset debut, and Wes Durston.
It was a similar story for mid-table Northamptonshire and Middlesex at Northampton. In response to Middlesex's 400, Northants piled up 335 for 9, Lance Klusener top scoring with 89 while David Wigley made a career-best 70.
