Only Simmons, with 51 off 48 balls, came to terms with their varied spin on another helpful surface. The first mandatory powerplay brought 53 runs from ten overs, but the rate then plummeted, with Samuels pottering around for 74 balls for 29. West Indies' total was one fewer than they had managed two days earlier, and just as inadequate. Pakistan's progress to another win was slightly less hurried, as West Indies had reinforced their spin attack with the leg-breaks of the debutant Anthony Martin, a fireman from Antigua. He kept the batsmen quiet, but for the second match running Bishoo was the only home bowler to take a wicket. Ahmed Shehzad, just 19, anchored the chase with his second hundred in one-day internationals, facing 148 balls in all.
