†PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA 1981-82

At Karachi, March 12

15-Apr-1983
At Karachi, March 12. Pakistan won by eight wickets. Play was marred by crowd disturbances and invasions of the playing area, resulting in a reduction of the match from 40 to 33 overs. Pakistan won the toss and, deciding to field, took the wicket of Wettimuny in the second over. After a slow start Warnapura and Dias added 139 in 27 overs. Soon afterwards crowd disturbances, and tear gas fired by the police, caused the match to be suspended with Sri Lanka 147 for two after 29 overs. The umpires rescheduled the match for 35 overs, only to come off after 33 overs. Sri Lanka having lost momentum through the interruptions to their innings, Pakistan were quickly up with the required scoring-rate. After Mansoor Akhtar was out in Wijesuriya's first over, Javed Miandad, promoting himself to No. 3, soon lofted Wijesuriya for 6 and Mohsin Khan also scored freely.
Man of the Match: Mohsin Khan.
