The West Indian selectors have named seven players to join the A team in Sri Lanka, as replacements for those who were called up to the senior side following the dispute over contracts that nearly resulted in the tour being called off. Tishan Maraj, Lendl Simmons, Siewnarine Chattergoon, Darren Sammy, Kenroy Peters, Richard Kelly and Jean Paul are those called up, and they will now be in contention for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka A and the five ODIs that follow.
Daren Ganga, whose A team are locked at 1-1 with the hosts, welcomed the new additions, saying: "We are all disappointed at the result of the last Test and were further disappointed by the interpretation given to some comments I made following the game. However we had a good team meeting at dinner and everyone is fully focussed on what we came here to do - play cricket and represent the region to the best of our ability."
In order to accommodate the new players, the tour schedule has also been adjusted. The final Test will now begin on July 7 instead of July 5, and the five ODIs will be played between July 13 and 19.
