Playing Role

Kenroy Peters' first-class debut came in the 1999-2000 season, when he turned out for Windward Islands against the visiting South Africans. But it took him almost a decade-and-a-half to finally make his international debut in a Test against South Africa in Port Elizabeth (now Gqeberha) in December 2014 when he replaced the injured Kemar Roach. He took the wickets of Dean Elgar and Stiaan van Zyl, finishing with 2 for 69 in the only South Africa innings in that drawn Test.
Peters was already past 32 by then, though, and really just an injury replacement. He would play just 15 more first-class games before retiring with 232 wickets in the format, to go with 38 in List A games and ten in T20s. It could have gone very differently for the left-arm quick, who first made news when, as an Under-19 player, he took a hat-trick against England Under-19s in an unofficial Test in Leicester. An excellent servant for Windward Islands, whom he played most of his representative cricket for, Peters finished up after the 2016-17 season, with that Port Elizabeth Test his only outing for West Indies.
