Lulama Masikazana, the former Eastern Province wicketkeeper, has died aged 38 after a sudden illness. He represented Eastern Province in 38 matches between 1993 and 2000, making one first-class 50 and affecting 111 dismissals.
"He was one of the first African players to represent South African Schools after the conclusion of the unity process," CSA chief Gerald Majola said, "making the select national XI in 1991 and 1992." That schools team included future South Africa internationals like Shaun Pollock, Herschelle Gibbs and Nicky Boje.
"It is always a tragedy to lose a member of the CSA Cricket Family at such a young age and we share with his family and friends a sense of great personal loss," Majola said.
