At Cape Town, February 11, 2007. South Africa won by ten wickets. Toss: South Africa.
South Africa dismissed Pakistan for 107 and surged to a rousing victory in 14 overs. De Villiers and Smith set the crowd cheering with a pair of pugnacious fifties, but it was Pollock who set up the win. He did not concede a run until his fourth over - and that was a wide; his opening spell was 8- 4-8-2. Pakistan's batsmen seemed desperate for air, never mind runs, and soon the wickets began to tumble. That they survived into the 46th over was a testament to the gritty batting of Inzamam-ul-Haq, whose undefeated 45 was more than the two next-best scores put together. Pollock was well supported, with Ntini unusually miserly. Boucher became the first keeper to make six one-day dismissals for South Africa, equalling the world record.
Man of the Match: S. M. Pollock. Attendance: 19,077.
