The Prudential Trophy 1972

As an experiment the three Prudential Trophy games were played before the test matches

15-Apr-1978
As an experiment the three Prudential Trophy games were played before the test matches. England, captained for the first time by Brearley, won by two matches to one having lost the five previous games to the West Indies and Pakistan.
England took £4,000 in prize money for their wins at Old Trafford and Edgbaston and the Australians £2000 for their success at the Oval in the final match. Men of the series awards worth £250 went to Amiss of England and Chappell of Australia the only century makers in these matches played over Jubilee weekend. Every member of the touring party took part in the series but England who selected from 14, did not play either Hendrick or Botham, although the latter was twelfth man at the Oval.
