England v West Indies, 2013-14

Wisden's review of the third Twenty20 International, England v West Indies, 2013-14

15-Apr-2015
At Bridgetown, Barbados, March 13, 2014. England won by five runs. Toss: England. Twenty20 international debut: S. S. Cottrell.
Chris Jordan, born and raised in Barbados and watched by family and friends, starred in his own personal fairytale, as England won a Twenty20 match after five defeats. At the ground where he used to play as a teenager and give throwdowns to Brian Lara, Jordan struck four sixes off Dwayne Bravo in the final over of England's innings, then claimed three wickets and held a stunning diving catch at deep midwicket inches above the turf, with Bravo again the victim. West Indies needed 17 off the final over, bowled by Dernbach, and - following the run-out of the fluent Simmons, a six from Sammy and an off-side wide - six off the last ball. Had Sammy left it alone, it would have been another wide. Instead, he toe-ended it to short third man, and England could celebrate a consolation win. They had produced a curious innings, managing 96 without loss from the first ten overs as Lumb made a format-best score; 43 for six from the next nine as Santokie strangled the middle order; and, thanks to Jordan, 26 from the final over. After he was out first ball, Stokes punched a dressing room locker, and fractured his wrist. The injury required surgery and ruled him out of the World Twenty20.
Man of the Match: C. J. Jordan. Man of the Series: D. J. G. Sammy.
