New Zealand v Sri Lanka, 2013-14

Wisden's review of the third ODI, New Zealand v Sri Lanka, 2013-14

15-Apr-2014
At Dambulla, November 16, 2013. Sri Lanka won by 36 runs (D/L). Toss: New Zealand.
Another rain-affected match, and another New Zealand fightback - but the weather had the final say, as bad light closed in with the tourists still needing 90 from eight overs to overhaul their revised target of 216 from 33. It would have been a tall order, but Neesham and McCullum had already doubled the score from the depths of 63 for six. In a game originally shortened to 43 overs, then trimmed to 33 by another downpour, Sri Lanka had started well, with an opening stand of 91 in 86 balls between Jayawardene and Dilshan, who hit his third successive half-century. When New Zealand batted, Herath - the last-over fall guy four nights previously - claimed three victims, and the innings could not be recovered.
Man of the Match: S. M. S. M. Senanayake. Man of the Series: T. M. Dilshan.
