Queens Sports Club offered a more appropriate pitch and outfield, and thus a more entertaining contest. Bangladesh never threatened, but lost with dignity in scoring 272 their highest one-day international total yet. They had started by dismissing Zimbabwe's top three for 39, but then the Flower brothers added 148. Grant went on to 142, equalling Dave Houghton's one-day record for Zimbabwe, against New Zealand at Hyderabad in the 1987-88 World Cup. He faced 128 balls, hitting ten fours and two sixes, and put on another 121 with Carlisle in the final 12 overs. Javed Omar and Habibul Bashar shared a stand of 84 at five an over, but once they were parted the later batsmen could not continue the momentum. Blignaut, near the wide mid-wicket boundary, took a sensational one-handed leaping catch to dismiss Khaled Masud.
