India never needed to move into top gear to beat the disappointing Zimbabweans. Campbell scored 53 off only 41 balls, with nine fours, but several of his colleagues made good starts without following them through. Harbhajan Singh bowled impressively, and an eventual target of 214 never looked enough. Tendulkar, dropped on five and 29 (both times off the bowling of Mbangwa), made the Zimbabweans pay with his 18th one-day international century. He hit 127, with 13 fours and a six, in 130 balls as he moved clear of Desmond Haynes's old record of 17.
