Min Patel will be out of action for two weeks after aggravating a groin injury in last week's Championship game against Lancashire.

"Groins, I'm told, are notoriously bad for never going away," Patel said. "It's something I've had for a couple of years. It disappears for months on end and reappears out of nowhere."

Yorkshire cut OAP admission prices

Yorkshire have announced that they are dropping admission prices for senior citizens from £15 to £10 per day with effect from the next home game, Yorkshire v Lancashire in the County Championship.

Yorkshire have announced that they are dropping admission prices for senior citizens from £15 to £10 per day with effect from the next home game, Yorkshire v Lancashire in the County Championship.

The decision was taken following a series of complaints from pensioners who have attended matches at Headingley in recent weeks. Last season, pensioners paid just £6 on the gate to watch the county. However, because the club do not currently offer any concession to retired supporters who become full members of the club, it was decided to also scrap the reduction on the gate for pensioners resulting in an increase from £6 to £15 per game.

Even though Bradford/Leeds UCCE fell to another heavy defeat - 250 runs against Worcestershire - Sam Reddish, an 18-year-old batsman from Solihull, will remember the final day. He smashed 148 off 178 balls with 28 fours and two sixes against an attacking including the England internationals Kabir Ali and Gareth Batty. Sadly for Reddish the game wasn't a first-class fixture, but although the records won't show his innings he'll certainly not forget it.

Five counties are going to be hit by the withdrawal of players who have been selected in the Australia A squad for the Top End series, in Darwin and Cairns, against New Zealand, Pakistan and India. Travis Birt (Derbyshire), Mark Cosgrove (Glamorgan), Dan Cullen (Somerset), Brad Hodge (Lancashire) and Chris Rogers (Northants) have been named in the 14-man party. The matches take place during July.

Gary Keedy, Lancashire's left-arm spinner, dislocated a finger towards the end of the C&G match against Worcestershire. He tried to stop a powerful straight drive during the final-wicket stand between Zaheer Khan and Ray Price and immediately left the field for treatment.

However Mark Chilton, Lancashire's captain, is hopeful that he will be fit for the next Championship match, starting on Wednesday, against Kent at Old Trafford.

Darren Gough picked up a hamstring injury during Monday's C & G Trophy match against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl after running into the umpire's arm. He had begun the game in impressive style but was forced to leave the field after recording figures of 2.2-1-4-2.

The Essex physio, Mark Thomas, issued said: "Gough has a very mild grade 1 strain of his right femoris [one of his hamstrings]. He sustained the injury during his third over when the umpire put his arm up to halt his run-up, causing Darren to run into the umpire's arm - throwing him off balance in the process.

"We will not be taking any chances with the injury so it is likely - as a precaution - that he will not be playing in our next Championship match against Leicestershire."
