Jamaican legspinner Alfred Scott had a very short career, but was good enough to make one of his five first-class matches a Test. He had nine wickets in two first-class games for Jamaica when he was picked to play against the visiting Indians in a tour game in Kingston in 1953, and got the wickets of Vijay Manjrekar, Polly Umrigar and Vijay Hazare in the first innings and all four Indian wickets to fall in the second innings - Vinoo Mankad, Pankaj Roy, GS Ramchand and Hazare again. That got him into the XI for the fifth Test of that series, also in Kingston, but there was no success for him on this occasion: he bowled 44 wicketless overs across two innings. He played his last first-class match before he turned 20, and then went off to England to play league cricket before relocating to the US. His father, Tommy Scott, also a legspinner, played eight Tests for West Indies between 1928 and 1931.
